Perfect baby Gabriel is here, well he has been for 8 weeks now. Theses last 8 weeks have been filled with so much joy along with a lot of tears and unexpected things. I haven't had a moment to blog but now as my little angel naps in his swing I thought I'd attempt it.
I went in for my ultrasound on Tuesday September 21st and the doctor decided to monitor the baby for 20 minutes. Toward the end the baby's heart rate began to decline from a steady 160 all the way down to 80 ad stayed that way for 2 minutes. The doctor decided it best not to wait any longer since I was considered full term at 38 weeks and 4 days. He sent me straight to the hospital for an induction. My cervix was considered not quite ready so they put some medicine on my cervix at about 6pm to ripen it for induction the next morning...but my body had other plans. Labor took off with contractions 2 minutes apart right away and by 8pm I was in so much pain and was ready for the epidural I got denied with my last 2 children. Once again I got denied and suffered so much, I think worse than with my first two even though this labor was much shorter, I really wondered how I would live through it. I did though and once my beautiful baby was in my arms I completely forgot it all. On September 21st 2010, perfect baby Gabriel came into our lives at 11:21pm. He weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces (pretty lucky I thought) and was 20 1/2 inches with a head of 14 inches and beautiful thick black hair that no one can get over.
In the weeks to follow I had surgery for once again retained placenta but luckily there were no complications from that. I have struggled with postpartum depression, breastfeeding trials and my little baby had to have surgery last Sunday from a condition called Pyloric Stenosis. He is doing much better now. It has been quite an interesting 8 weeks but I feel like now we are finally getting somewhat back to normal and I just look forward to watching my new baby grow and learn things and I so thankful for the wonderful family I have been blessed with.
